Xande was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 16 November in 1967.Brazilian Popular Music [MPB] and its enormous diversity was his first inspiration, and even now it remains essential for his playing. He started to play drums at the age of 13, having drums classes with Ronaldo Alvarenga and Claudio Wilner.His first performances took place in Students Festivals, Nightlife Places and Dance Groups. Beside this 'work on the streets', he took classic percussion classes with teacher Joaquim Moraes Abreu Along 22 year of his work, played and recorded together with instrumental bands as well as with musicians and singers like Paulo Russo,Nico Assumpção, Marcos Suzano, Armando Marçal, Sivuca, Cazuza, João Bosco,Elza Soares,Baby do Brasil [in concerts with the Jazz Simphonic Orchestra from São Paulo] Rosa Passos,Johnny Alf ,Edu Lôbo,D. Ivone Lara,Dominguinhos and Paulinho da Viola. Between 94 and 96 he was a member of the band that played with the singer Simone, participating in concerts through Latin America and national tours In 2004 participated in a Scandinavian Tour with Master Samba Singer Nelson Sargento. In 2006 played with Mandolin Virtuose Hamilton de Holanda in a Brazilian tour on the release of his CD 'Brasilianos' At the present moment, plays with the singer Emilio Santiago and Pagode Jazz Sardinha’s Club. This last group have realeased his first independent CD in concerts in Brazil and Europe, as well as in Japan through Nippon Crown, reaching a great success among the press and fans.
